ONE LAS VEGAS
New Year’s Eve Fireworks Extravaganza Returns to the Las Vegas Strip and “Dance the Night Away” Takes Over Fremont
After taking last year off, the fireworks extravaganza is returning to the Las Vegas Strip to welcome in 2022!
New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas makes Time Square look like a quaint evening at home. The famed Las Vegas Strip shuts down to traffic and becomes one outrageous block party – if 400,000 people lived on your block. At midnight, the most gloriously high-powered choreographed fireworks display launches, ending with a big-bang finale as the fireworks and the crowd dance to Elvis’ Viva Las Vegas!
The entire four-mile Las Vegas Strip, from Russell to Sahara – from Mandalay Bay at the Strip’s southern end to the STRAT at the north – will be closed to traffic around 6 p.m. So if you’re planning on partying on the Strip, be sure to arrive early and bundle up – it could be cold.
If you don’t want to get stuck outside, remember once the clock hits 11:00 p.m., the majority of the hotels on the Strip stop letting people in unless you have a room key. They re-open their doors around 1 a.m.
Also, please don’t drink and drive. Your best bet is to take a cab or ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft. Plus, in the past the RTC has provided free bus rides – check here for RTC updates. There are also a number of prohibited items on the Strip for New Year’s Eve including purses and any other type of bag larger than 12x6x12 inches. In addition, while alcohol consumption is allowed from plastic cups or containers, marijuana – although legal – cannot be consumed or smoked in any public place on New Year’s eve or any other time.
Other Great Places to Watch the Fireworks
You can also get a great view of the fireworks from one of the upper floors of various Strip parking garages. Plus, if you can get there really early, any of the pedestrian bridges across the Strip will provide the perfect view of the fireworks.
The Skyfall Lounge and Rivea on the 64th floor of Delano Las Vegas and the Foundation Room on the 63rd floor of Mandalay Bay both offer a birds-eye-view of the fireworks.
The Ice Rink New Year’s Eve Fireworks Viewing Party at The Cosmopolitan rings in the New Year with an open bar, live DJ and ice skating plus unmatched views of the Strip.
The outdoor patios at Nine Fine Irishmen at New York-New York will put you right in the middle of all the action and great spots to watch the fireworks.
ARIA provides a fireworks viewing area on the ARIA Main Porte Cochere between 11:30 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.
Beer Park and Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop at Paris Las Vegas will ring in the New Year with a massive rooftop party featuring an open bar and excellent views of the Strip fireworks show.
If you are in downtown Las Vegas, the Stadium Swim at Circa Resort & Casino is the place to be for the perfect view of the Strip and fireworks display.
“Dance the Night Away” at the Fremont Street Experience 80’s & 90’s Dance Party Celebration
In downtown Las Vegas, you can rock all night and ring in the New Year to the sounds of several popular live bands including by 80’s and 90’s legendary music icons Bobby Brown, Vanilla Ice, Village People, Tone Loc as you “Dance the Night Away” under the dazzling lighted canopy of the Fremont Street Experience. At midnight, watch the fireworks on a gigantic Viva Vision LED screen. Tickets are required and you must be 21. The Plaza Hotel also is expected to host a midnight fireworks show at the west end of Fremont Street.
If you’re not a fan of huge crowds, there are lots of New Year’s Eve weekend concerts and shows. Here are just a few:
Usher – The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, December 28-January 1
Maroon 5 – The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan, December 30-31
RuPaul’s Drag Race – Flamingo Showroom at Flamingo, December 30-January 1
Kristin Chenoweth – The Smith Center, December 31, 8 p.m.
David Lee Roth – House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, December 31-January 1
